Al-Bushrā Academy was founded in Blackburn under the guidance and patronage of our beloved Shaykh Muḥammad Ṣalīm Dhorāt (دامت بركاتهم). Its mission is to support the Muslim community especially the younger generation in all aspects of daily religious life. Established and registered as a charity in September 2023, Al-Bushrā Academy operates with the duʿās and direction of the esteemed Shaykh Mawlānā Muḥammad Ṣalīm Dhorāt (حفظه الله). The institute is steadily progressing and is actively seeking a permanent premises to expand its activities, which currently include literature distribution and a weekly spiritual gathering

Our mission is to support parents in nurturing children who are not only happy and healthy but also guided by faith, values, and good character.

Teach children to love Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

Encourage respect for parents, teachers, and community.

With the support of our well-wishers, we are actively seeking a permanent premises. This will allow us to expand our services to include classes, workshops, and family programmes that will benefit Muslims of all ages and backgrounds.

Founder & Head of School

Al Bushra Academy was officially established and registered as a charity in September 2023. Operating under the direction and duas of the esteemed Shaykh Mawlana Muhammad Saleem Dhorat hafizahullah, the institute continues to grow steadily.

Our team is dedicated to serving the community with sincerity (ikhlas) and professionalism. Though still in its early stages, Al Bushra Academy has already begun distributing Islamic literature, publishing a quarterly journal, and hosting weekly spiritual gatherings which attract individuals from Blackburn, Darwen, and surrounding areas.

For Brothers

Weekly Programmes
Tuesday English Programme

A short gathering is held in English on Tuesday evenings. Aimed primarily at a young audience, relevant topics are discussed, with a view to increase Islamic awareness and social responsibility.

Friday Tazkiyah Gathering

This gathering focuses on spiritual rectification and is extremely popular, attracting brothers from many places outside Leicester. The most respected Shaykh imparts his enlightening discourses in the Urdu language, although a simultaneous English translation enables a wider audience to benefit.

Monthly Programmes
Monthly Tazkiyah & Tarbiyah Programme

This gathering is held on the first Saturday of each month. Many people from all over the country attend for the purpose of self-rectification and spiritual development. Time is allocated for the completion of qadhā salāh, recitation of the Glorious Qur’ān, dhikr and learning masā’il pertaining to daily needs. The most respected Shaykh Mawlānā Muhammad Saleem Dhorat hafizahullāh also addresses the gathering with his words of wisdom.

Annual Youth Conference

The Annual Youth Conference was initiated to help spread the teachings of Islam on a national scale. The conference has grown from strength to strength, attracting people from all over the UK. Lectures focus on the need to become better Muslims and therefore better citizens and members of society.

Weekly Programmes
Monthly Tazkiyah Gathering

This gathering takes place on the first Saturday of the month. Many local sisters benefit from this gathering which includes talks delivered in both English and Urdu. The most respected Shaykh often enlightens the gathering with his presence.

Bimonthly Gathering for Sisters

This gathering has proved to be a very beneficial service attracting a large number of sisters. All lectures are imparted in English and the lecture series is designed to help sisters attain a better understanding of Islam.

Youth Activities

Al Bushra Kids’ club

The Academy’s weekly Kids’ Club has gained a regular audience and popularity. Designed to cater for children of primary school age, the weekly programme aims to help children grow into responsible and considerate Muslim youth. The programme, delivered by young ‘ulamā (and ‘ālimāt for the young girls), takes place on Saturday afternoons and consists of short talks, stories, quizzes and various other activities including sports. The talks cover a range of topics e.g. importance of keeping good company, drug prevention, development of moral character, respect for parents, teachers and neighbours, etc.

The Boy’s session takes place from 11:00am to 12:30pm.

The Girl’s session takes place from 12:45pm to 2:15pm.

  • A second Salātul-Jumu’ah during the summer months (Adhān: 2.45pm)
  • Tarāwīh Salāh.
  • Salātul-‘Īdayn.
  • English lecture before Salātul-Jumu’ah.
  • Daily book reading and religious discourse.
  • Special youth programmes.
  • Receiver system to relay all programmes, including adhān and salāh. The frequency is 454.250 MHz.
